Sulfur Mines

The sulfur mines are located in the eastern part of the island in the small bay of Paliorema. The wild mysterious landscape will take you back in time thanks to the old sulfur extraction mine that stopped operating in 1956. You will enjoy your swim on a beach with yellow pebbles and crystal clear waters. The beach is also one of the geological attractions of the island and you can see wagons on their rails, old rusty tools and unused spare parts in the warehouse.
